Aim & Scope
Journal of “Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas and Chemistry” exists to give researchers working on the geotechnological, chemical, technical and economic problems of the oil, gas and chemical industries a rigorously reviewed, openly accessible venue for their results. The journal was established to carry the research tradition of the Scientific-Research Institute “Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas and Chemistry” (SRI GPOGC) — active in this field since 1992 — into international circulation, and to connect that work with the wider engineering and earth-science community.
The journal is written for researchers and postgraduate students in the engineering, chemical and earth sciences; for specialists and engineers working in the oil, gas, chemical and energy industries; and for economists and policymakers concerned with the resource sector.
The journal accepts original research and, by invitation, survey articles in the following sections:
Technical Sciences
- Oil and gas engineering: drilling, field development, production, transport and refining
- Energy and power engineering
- Machinery and equipment, reliability
- Automation and industrial information technology: modelling, data analysis
Chemical Sciences
- Chemistry and chemical technology of hydrocarbons
- Catalysis
- Materials
- Analytical and physical chemistry applied to the industry
Economics
- Economics, management and policy of the energy and resource sectors
- Project economics
- Industrial organisation
Earth Sciences and Geography
- Geology and geophysics of hydrocarbon and mineral resources
- Geotechnology
- Hydrogeology
- Resource assessment
- Geography and the environment
- Environmental impact of resource extraction and processing
Manuscripts that cross the boundaries between the four sections — for example the geological and economic assessment of a field, or the chemistry and engineering of a process together — are expressly within scope. Authors of such work should choose the section closest to the manuscript's principal contribution and say in the cover letter which other sections it touches, so that reviewers can be drawn from more than one pool.
The journal does not publish manuscripts that report no original result, that have been published elsewhere in whole or in substantial part, or that fall outside the subject areas listed above. Submissions are checked against this statement by the editors before they are sent for review; see Policies for the review procedure.
